Program Overview

Go beyond the classroom and experience the process of preparing for—and performing on—a professional film set.

This intensive gives actors the opportunity to train directly with working filmmaker and director Jade Yurich, developing a scene from the first read and rehearsal through to a professionally filmed performance.

Jade is the creator/director of the upcoming feature film Roads and is currently in the casting process for the project, giving actors the opportunity to learn from a filmmaker actively working in the industry.

Over four weekly classes, actors will work closely with Jade to analyze their material, develop their characters, rehearse, and refine their performances for camera. The focus is not simply on preparing a scene, but on understanding how a director works with actors and how performances evolve throughout the rehearsal and filmmaking process.

The program culminates in a full 10-hour on-location shoot, where actors will put that preparation into practice in a professional filming environment. Jade will direct each scene on set, giving participants firsthand experience working through blocking, coverage, adjustments, multiple takes, and the realities of performing on a working set.

Following the shoot, scenes will be professionally edited, giving actors a polished final scene from the experience.

Program Structure

Four 2.5-Hour Zoom Classes
Tuesdays from 7:00–9:30 PM, beginning October 20th. Four weekly online sessions leading up to the shoot, focused on scene analysis, character work, rehearsal, direction, and preparing each actor for filming.

Full On-Location Shoot — November 15th
A 10-hour filming day where participants will work with Jade on set to professionally shoot their scenes.

Professional Editing
Following the shoot, scenes will be professionally edited into polished final pieces.

Limited Enrollment

The intensive is limited to 10 actors, allowing Jade to work closely with each participant throughout the rehearsal process and on set.

This program is designed for actors who want more than another scene study class. It’s an opportunity to experience the full journey from script to rehearsal to set to finished scene, while learning directly from a filmmaker actively working in the industry.

Instructor Bio: 

Jade Yurich is a Canadian filmmaker, writer, director, and comedian whose work spans film, television, live and digital platforms. His feature project Roads was selected as a Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) recommended project for Telefilm’s Talent to Watch initiative, marking him as an emerging voice in Canadian cinema. Rooted in Northern Ontario storytelling, Yurich’s work blends grounded character drama with musical and road-movie sensibilities, often exploring family, identity, and ambition within working-class and regional music cultures.

Professionally, Yurich is a "content powerhouse" with extensive credits across production, post-production, and creative development. He began as an assistant director on features including White Lie, Astronaut, and Brotherhood, and has since worked with Rolling Pictures, IATSE 411, and major productions including Ginny & Georgia, TallBoyz, and The Queen of My Dreams. His credits include producing Crave’s I Have Nothing, post supervising Still Single, and post-coordinating & Sons and Bladerunner 2099, alongside commercial work for Budweiser, Bud Light, and Volkswagen.

As a creator, he has directed short films such as After You and Eyes Wide Open, developed comedy projects including Pack of Jokers, and continues to build original film and series work across genres with a focus on authentic, audience-driven Canadian storytelling.
